What's new in efileman version 7.1 ?

efileman 7.1 has been developed under the conditions/restriction/advantages of Apache::mod_perl. The script has a new code structure and new skin files. The default skin may looking similar to the old efileman default skin, but both, skin and efileman code, working closer to the respective recommendations/standards now. Either efileman script, language or skin files are compatible to efileman 7.04. Don't place any files in the same directory as the former versions of efileman.

This version has a lot of more administration and security releated features, but no additional file management features. These will come with the next version of efileman.

User Registration and the "Simple Download List" are integrated now. A "forgot password" feature and a download counter are new.

User password is encrypted now in the configuration and won't display to the supervisor. Enter a new password while creating a new account or not to let efileman generate a password for the user. Use the new admin function "Save & Mail" to send the new account data immediately to the user with the generated password in case of.

efileman 7.1 has been tested successfully on more different systems than efileman 7.04.

efileman skin files don't needs enabled Javascript now. Every defined Javascript part has a noscript part with simple HTML or with a Perl function call.

efileman has now an Apache like access.log file instead of the older efileman_log.html. See the log files section for more details.

In the install package is include a script (ef_check.cgi), which you can use to verify whether your account complies to the installation requirements. The script shows also a lot of more usefully information for efileman user, sysadmins and Perl developer.
Also included are some skin examples for different purposes.

With that efileman should be now what have been promised before: easy to install and easy to configure.

• Microsoft Information Services (IIS) on Windows XP
• Janaserver (Version 2.2.2/2.2.3) on Windows2000
• Apache:mod_perl on WindowsNT 4, Windows2000 and FreeBSD
